Are you looking for the key????

As human beings we no doubt have heard the phrase “you aren’t working up to your potential.”  I know I have.   There are lots of reasons why this might happen.  Maybe you aren’t because you might not physically or emotionally feel like it.  Other times we might just be lazy. While I was working on a graphic that I named “Unlocking Your Potential,” I found myself wondering if what came to me in a bit of a brainstorm was something I actually believed.

The worker bee mentality

I’ve always thought of myself as a worker bee.  I like being in the background.  That is probably why in my television news career I was much more comfortable behind the camera, the editor, or on the phone.  I love meeting people and forging relationships but have occasionally played it safe when leadership positions have come along.  I have been and can be a leader.  Isn’t it easier when it is of your own choosing rather than being pushed into a situation?

God adds a little something extra

As I worked on this graphic for FindGreatCompanies.com, adding a little color here or an accent of a line, I realized that God has unlocked my potential by showing me that I can do something I never could have imagined.

Who would have thought a year ago that I would feel…do I dare say it artsy?  Am I ready to work for as a graphic designer?  No!  And I do not want to be one.  I do, though like challenging myself to learn more.  I’ve progressed to scratching the surface of Photoshop Elements 13.  I feel like a kindergartener in high school using the tool but each day I learn a little something new.

If you are struggling with your business, life, or even making graphics, remember God loves you and he alone is the Great Inspiration!  He is the key to unlocking your potential. Spend some time with him and ask him to show you what it is that He wants you to do.  You will have plenty of people offering up their own advice as to what you should be doing.  Allow God to open you up to His very best, because that is what he wants for each of us.  Will it be immediate?  I can’t say for sure, but if you let him in I know that he will show you the way.
